Knee Airbag Assembly (for Front Passenger Side)

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Front Passenger Side): ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.





(b) With the knee airbag assembly installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects, such as those mentioned below, replace the instrument panel with a new one: Any cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the knee airbag assembly.

2. INSPECT KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag has not Deployed)

CAUTION:
For knee airbag assembly removal and installation procedures, see pages Removal and Installation, and carefully follow the correct procedure.

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.





(b) With the knee airbag assembly removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects, such as those mentioned below, replace the knee airbag assembly, instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement with new ones:

* Any cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the knee airbag assembly.

* Any cracks or other damage to the connector.

* Deformation or cracks on the instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement.
