DESCRIPTION

The combination meter assembly controls the combination meter illumination in accordance with the light control signal from the light control rheostat.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (RHEOSTAT SWITCH)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

(e) According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

Combination Meter





OK:

The value displayed on the Techstream changes in according with the actual rheostat switch operation.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (JUNCTION BLOCK - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT)

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (JUNCTION BLOCK - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT)

(a) Disconnect the D87 light control rheostat connector.

(b) Disconnect the D68 junction block connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the light control rheostat connector.

(e) Reconnect the junction block connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT)

(a) Disconnect the D1 combination meter assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the D87 light control rheostat connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

(e) Reconnect the light control rheostat connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT

(a) Inspect light control rheostat Testing and Inspection.

(b) Reinstall the light control rheostat.

NG -- REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT Removal

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
