Removal





HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

5. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

Removal

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

Removal

7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

Removal

8. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt.





(b) Turn the hook connector clockwise and disconnect the suction pipe.

(c) Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe.

NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent the entry of moisture and foreign matter.

9. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the air conditioning tube.

(b) Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube.

NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent the entry of moisture and foreign matter.

10. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the heater water inlet hose from the air conditioning unit.





11. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the heater water outlet hose from the air conditioning unit.





12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the connectors on the front side.

(b) Remove the 2 nuts and disengage the guide.

(c) Disconnect the connectors on the back side, then remove the instrument panel junction block.

13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connectors.





(b) Disengage the clamps.

(c) Remove the ground wire bolts.

(d) Remove the 8 bolts and the nut and separate the instrument panel reinforcement with air conditioning unit.





(e) Disconnect the connectors and clamps behind the air conditioning unit, and remove the instrument panel reinforcement together with the air conditioning unit.





14. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the screw, and then separate the air conditioning unit and instrument panel reinforcement.





NOTICE:
Be sure to support the air conditioning unit, because the air conditioning unit bracket might be broken.

(b) For vehicles with the PTC heater assembly, remove the ground wire bolt.

15. REMOVE NO. 4 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the air duct.
