1NR-FE COOLING: THERMOSTAT: REMOVAL
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair
2. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (for 80A Type)
Removal
3. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (for 100A Type)
Removal
4. REMOVE BEARING BRACKET HEAT INSULATOR
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and bearing bracket heat insulator.
5. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and then disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass pipe.
6. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the water inlet.
7. REMOVE WATER INLET
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the water inlet.
8. REMOVE NO. 2 WATER INLET HOUSING GASKET
(a) Remove the No. 2 water inlet housing gasket from the water inlet.

9. REMOVE THERMOSTAT
HINT
It is not necessary to remove the thermostat unless it is being replaced.
(a) Remove the frame from the water inlet.

HINT
Using needle nose pliers, push down on the frame to compress the spring. While the spring is compressed, turn the frame to remove it from the water inlet.
(b) Remove the spring and element.
