K41B CVT: CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE SYSTEM: P0962, P0963, P0966, P0967: Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Control Circuit Low (Shift Solenoid Valve DS1)

DESCRIPTION

Using shift solenoid DS1 (inflow to the primary pulley) and shift solenoid DS2 (outflow from the primary pulley), the ECM controls the line pressure and fluid volume input and output to the primary pulley according to the vehicle speed and accelerator pedal angle. As a fail-safe function, if a solenoid is shorted or open, the ECM stops current to the faulty solenoid.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

These DTCs indicate an open or short in the shift solenoid DS1 or DS2 circuit. When there is an open or short circuit in any shift solenoid valve circuits, the ECM detects the problem, illuminates the MIL and stores the DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE SHIFT POSITION)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test.

(e) In accordance with the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.

Result

B -- REPLACE ECM
A -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY (ECM INPUT SOLENOID RESISTANCE)

(a) Disconnect the ECM connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Text in Illustration

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM)
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE ECM P0705

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION P0705

NEXT -- END

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the transaxle.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. REPLACE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY P0711

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION P0705

NEXT -- END
