C1279
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1232, C0371, C1243, C1245, C1279: Acceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction
C1279 - Acceleration Sensor Output Voltage Malfunction (Test Mode DTC)
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU receives signals from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor via the CAN communication system.
The yaw rate sensor has a built in acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2).
If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and the CAN communication system, the DTCs U0123 (malfunction in CAN communication with the yaw rate sensor) and U0124 (malfunction in CAN communication with the acceleration sensor) are output.
These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.
DTCs C0371 and C1279 can be cleared when the yaw rate and acceleration sensor sends a yaw rate and/or acceleration signal or the Test Mode ends. DTCs C0371 and C1279 are output only in the Test Mode.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* When replacing the yaw rate and deceleration sensor, perform the following procedures:
For the VSC system, clear and then reobtain the zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.
For the CVT system, perform "Reset Memory", "Deceleration Sensor 0 Point Calibration", and "CVT Oil Pressure Calibration" Programming and Relearning.
* Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
HINT
When U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with C1232, C1243 and/or C1245, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 first U0073.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) At a speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, drive the vehicle, turn the steering wheel, and decelerate (depress the brake pedal) the vehicle.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON again and check that no CAN communication system DTC is output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(e) Check if DTCs for zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor undone (C1210) or for zero point calibration of the acceleration sensor undone (C1336) are output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result
B -- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM How to Proceed With Troubleshooting
C -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTC Vehicle Stability Control System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor has been installed properly Installation.
OK:
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be tilted.
NG -- INSTALL YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR CORRECTLY Installation
OK -- REPLACE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR Removal
