B1690
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1690/15, B1692/81:
B1690/15 - Door Side Airbag Sensor RH Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
for DTC B1690/15:
The side airbag sensor RH (for front side) consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1690/15 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor RH (for front side) circuit.
for DTC B1692/81:
The circuit for the side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag RH and curtain shield airbag RH) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor RH (for front side) and side airbag sensor RH (for rear side).
The side airbag sensor RH (for front side) and side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1692/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the side collision sensor RH (for front side) (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag RH and curtain shield airbag RH).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Interchange the side airbag sensor RH (for front side) with the side airbag sensor LH (for front side) and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(g) Turn the ignition switch off.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

DTCs other than B1690/15, B1692/81, B1695/16 and B1697/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(j) Turn the ignition switch off.
(k) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(l) Return the side airbag sensor RH (for front side) and the side airbag sensor LH (for front side) to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
A -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System
B -- REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR FRONT SIDE) Removal
C -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal
