SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SEAT POSITION SENSOR: INSTALLATION
NOTICE:
* If the seat position airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the seat position airbag sensor with a new one.
* When installing the seat position airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
1. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Clean the threads of the "TORX" bolt with non-residue solvent.
(b) Apply adhesive to the threads of the "TORX" bolt.
Adhesive:
Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
(c) Attach the guide and using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, temporarily install the seat position airbag sensor with the "TORX" bolt.
(d) Insert a 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) feeler gauge between the seat position airbag sensor and seat rail.

(e) Move the seat position airbag sensor up and down to adjust the clearance between it and the seat rail.
HINT
Move the feeler gauge back and forth and adjust the position of the seat position airbag sensor so that a small amount of resistance can be felt.
(f) Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, tighten the "TORX" bolt.
Torque : 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)
(g) Pull out the feeler gauge.
(h) Check the clearance between the seat position airbag sensor and seat rail.
OK:
0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.)
HINT
If the clearance is outside the specified range, loosen the "TORX" bolt and repeat steps "d" through "g".
(i) Attach the guide to install a new seat slide position sensor protector to the seat position airbag sensor.

(j) Check that the seat position airbag sensor and seat slide position sensor protector are not loosely installed.
(k) Connect the wire harness to the seat slide position sensor protector.
(l) Connect the connector to the seat position airbag sensor.

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
4. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK

5. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT

6. CHECK FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (w/ Seat Heater System)
(a) Check the seat heater operation.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(2) Turn the seat heater switch on.
(3) Wait 5 minutes or more and confirm that the seat surface becomes warm.
