Seat Occupant Sensor: Testing and Inspection
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
2. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Visually check for the following defects of the occupant classification ECU:
* Cracks in the ECU housing
* Dents in the ECU housing
* Chips in the ECU housing
* Cracks or other damage to the connector
* Damage to the serial number
OK:
No defects are found.
HINT
If any defects are found, replace the occupant classification ECU with a new one.
CAUTION:
Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures of the occupant classification ECU.
3. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS DEPLOYED)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Visually check for the following defects of the occupant classification ECU:
* Cracks in the ECU housing
* Dents in the ECU housing
* Chips in the ECU housing
* Cracks or other damage to the connector
* Damage to the serial number
OK:
No defects are found.
HINT
If any defects are found, replace the occupant classification ECU with a new one.
