SEAT BELT: SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT (for Driver Side)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) When the driver side seat belt is not fastened, check that the driver side seat belt warning light in the combination meter blinks.

(c) When the driver side seat belt is fastened, check that the driver side seat belt warning light in the combination meter turns off.

2. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT (for Front Passenger Side)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) When the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened with the front passenger seat occupied, check that the front passenger side seat belt warning light of the combination meter blinks.

(c) When the front passenger side seat belt is fastened with the front passenger seat occupied, check that the front passenger side seat belt warning light of the combination meter turns off.

3. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER

HINT
If the buzzer does not sound, the buzzer cancel setting may be set to on Programming and Relearning.

(a) Lift up the vehicle using a swing arm type lift Vehicle Lift and Support Locations.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Place a weight of 20 kg (44.0 lb) on the front passenger seat.

NOTICE:
Place the weight on the seat cushion and do not allow it to come into contact with the seatback.

(d) When the ignition switch is turned ON and 1.8 seconds elapse while the driver side seat belt is not fastened, check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter sounds 5 times at an interval of 1.2 seconds.

(e) When 13.8 seconds have elapsed after turning the ignition switch ON, the shift lever is in D and the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) while the driver or front passenger side seat belt is unfastened, check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 9.6 seconds, and then sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 20 seconds.

(f) Check that the buzzer stops 30 seconds after the buzzer starts sounding.

(g) After the buzzer stops, turn the ignition switch off and then start the engine again. Then drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver or front passenger side seat belt is not fastened and check that the buzzer sounds again.

(h) After the buzzer stops, fasten the driver and front passenger side seat belts. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more, unfasten the driver or front passenger side seat belt and check that the buzzer sounds again.

(i) After the buzzer stops, move the shift lever to R, and then move it to D. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and check that the buzzer sounds again.
