SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR: INSTALLATION

NOTICE:
* If the front airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
* When installing the front airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. INSTALL FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Install the front airbag sensor.

(1) Attach the guide and temporarily install the front airbag sensor with the bolt.

(2) Tighten the bolt.

Torque : 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf)

(3) Check that the terminal housing is in the unlock position

(4) Connect the sensor connector (yellow colored) to the front airbag sensor.

NOTICE:
* Do not push the connector housing part (A) when connecting the sensor connector.
* When handling the sensor connector, take care not to damage the sensor wire harness.

(5) Check that the terminal housing is in the lock position.

(6) Check that the front airbag sensor is not loose.

6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

7. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
