SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
(c) Support the steering pad with one hand.
(d) Connect the horn wire harness connector to the steering pad contact plate.
(e) Connect the 2 airbag connectors to the steering pad.

NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(f) Push in the 2 lock plates to lock the 2 airbag connectors.
(g) Push in the steering pad and attach the 2 springs to install it.

2. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER (w/o Cruise Control System)
(a) Attach the guide.
(b) Attach the claw to install the steering wheel cover.
3. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER (w/ Cruise Control System)
(a) Pass the cruise control lever through the cover hole.
(b) Attach the guide.
(c) Attach the claw to install the steering wheel cover.
4. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
(a) Attach the guide.
(b) Attach the claw to install the steering wheel cover.
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
6. INSPECT STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
(a) With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:
Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.
(b) Make sure that the horn sounds.

7. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
