Air Bag Control Module: Testing and Inspection
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
2. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) With the center airbag sensor removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the center airbag sensor with a new one:
* Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the center airbag sensor.
* Deformation of the center airbag sensor.
* Dents in the center airbag sensor.
* Chips in the center airbag sensor.
* Cracks or other damage to the connector.
* Peeling of the label.
OK:
No defects are found.
HINT
If any defects are found, replace the center airbag sensor assembly with a new one.
CAUTION:
For removal and installation of the center airbag sensor, be sure to follow the correct procedure.
3. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS DEPLOYED)
(a) Replace the center airbag sensor Removal.
HINT
The airbag sensor should be replaced after any of the airbags has deployed, as it has been subjected to an impact.
CAUTION:
For removal and installation of the center airbag sensor, be sure to follow the correct procedure.
