Applicability
Introduction
Some 2010 model year Scion xD vehicles equipped with the U341E automatic transaxle may exhibit a MIL "ON" condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0713 (Transaxle Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" High Input) stored in the ECM. The transaxle wire harness has been revised. Please follow the repair procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Remove the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
A. Remove the 19 bolts and remove the oil pan and oil pan gasket.
B. Remove the gasket from the oil pan.
2. Remove the valve body oil strainer assembly.
A. Remove the 3 bolts and remove the oil strainer assembly.
B. Remove the 0-ring from the oil strainer.
3. Remove the valve body assembly.
A. Disconnect the 5 solenoid connectors.
B. Remove the bolt and lock plate and remove the ATF temperature sensor.
C. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the detent spring cover and detent spring.
D. Remove the 13 bolts and the valve body assembly from the transaxle case.
4. Remove the bolt and the transaxle wire harness from the transaxle case.
5. Remove the transaxle case 2nd brake gasket.
6. Remove the transaxle case gasket.
7. Install the NEW transaxle case gasket.
Coat a new transaxle case gasket with Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent and install it to the transaxle case.
8. Install the NEW transaxle case 2nd brake gasket.
Coat a new transaxle case 2nd brake gasket with Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent and install it to the transaxle case.
9. Install the NEW transaxle wire harness.
A. Coat the 0-ring with Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent.
B. Install the transaxle wire harness to the transaxie.
C. Install the transaxle wire harness bolt.
Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kg*cm, 48 in*lbf)
10. Install the valve body assembly.
A. Align the groove of the manual valve with the pin of the manual valve lever.
B. Temporarily install the valve body with the 13 bolts.
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 32 mm (1.26 in.)
Bolt B: 22 mm (0.87 in.)
Bolt C: 55 mm (2.17 in.)
Bolt D: 45 mm (1.77 in.)
C. Temporarily install the detent spring and detent spring cover with 2 bolts.
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 14 mm (0.55 in.)
Bolt B: 45 mm (1.77 in.)
D. Check that the manual valve is in contact with the center of the roller at the tip of the detent spring.
E. Tighten the 15 bolts.
Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft*lbf)
F. Connect the 5 solenoid connectors.
G. Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt.
Bolt length: 55 mm (2.17 in.)
Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft*lbf)
11. Install the valve body oil strainer assembly.
A. Coat the new 0-ring with Toyota Genuine ATF WS or equivalent and install it to the oil strainer.
B. Install the valve body oil strainer assembly to the automatic transaxle with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft*lbf)
12. Install the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
A. Confirm the position of the 2 magnets in the oil pan.
B. Install the new oil pan gasket to the oil pan.
C. Install the oil pan with the 19 bolts.
Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in*lbf)
13. Fill the transaxle with automatic transaxle fluid.
14. Inspect the transaxle fluid level.

15. Test drive to confirm normal vehicle operation.
