Installation
SUSPENSION: REAR SHOCK ABSORBER: INSTALLATION
HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are the LH side.
1. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SPRING BUMPER
(a) Install the rear No. 1 spring bumper onto the rear shock absorber.
2. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
(a) Support the spring seat of the rear axle beam assembly using a jack and wooden block.
NOTICE:
Do not excessively jack up the rear axle beam assembly.
(b) Temporarily tighten the rear shock absorber assembly to the rear axle beam assembly with the bolt and nut.
(c) Slowly raise the jack and insert the upper part of the rear shock absorber to the installation hole.
HINT
Support the rear shock absorber assembly at a position where it compresses by approximately 20 to 30 mm (0.78 to 1.18 in.).
3. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION SUPPORT
(a) Install the rear suspension support.
NOTICE:
Make sure that the rear suspension support is correctly installed as shown in the illustration.
4. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER CUSHION RETAINER
(a) Install the rear shock absorber cushion retainer.
NOTICE:
Be sure to install the rear shock absorber cushion retainer in the correct direction.
(b) Using a socket hexagon wrench (6 mm), secure the rear shock absorber assembly and tighten the lock nut.
Torque : 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)
5. INSTALL REAR WHEELS
Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
6. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
(a) Lower the vehicle and bounce it up and down several times to stabilize the rear suspension.
7. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
(a) Tighten the bolt on the rear shock absorber (lower side).
Torque : 90 Nm (918 kgf-cm, 67 ft-lbf)
NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, tighten the bolt.
8. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER
