Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications

CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY





Using several steps, install and tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers uniformly with as a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench in the sequence shown in the illustration.

Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf)





Mark the front of the cylinder head bolt with paint.
Retighten the cylinder head bolts by additional 90° and one more additional 45° as shown in the illustration.

CYLINDER HEAD BOLT

Using vernier calipers, measure the length of the cylinder head set bolt from the seat to the end.
Standard bolt length:
146.8 to 148.2 mm (5.7795 to 5.8346 in.)
Maximum bolt length:
149.2 mm (5.874 in.)

If the bolt length is greater than the maximum, replace the cylinder head set bolt.
Using vernier calipers, measure the minimum diameter of the elongated thread at the measuring point.

Standard outside diameter:
9.77 to 9.96 mm (0.3846 to 0.3921 in.)
Minimum outside diameter:
9.4 mm (0.3701 in.)

Maximum warpage: 0.7 mm (0.028 in.)

INTAKE MANIFOLD





Provisionally tighten the intake manifold and manifold stay with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts in the order shown in the illustration, and then tighten them to the specified torque.

Torque: 28 Nm (286 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf)


EXHAUST MANIFOLD





Install a new exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold with the 5 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

Torque: 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)





CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP





Tighten the 10 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

Torque: 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf)
