E351 MANUAL TRANSAXLE: MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Removal
3. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal
4. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
5. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
7. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
8. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
9. DRAIN TRANSAXLE OIL
(a) Remove the filler plug and the gasket.
(b) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and then drain the manual transaxle oil.
(c) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf)
10. REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM COVER Removal
12. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH Removal
13. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH Removal
14. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL Removal
15. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal
16. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH Removal
17. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK Removal
18. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER Removal
19. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
20. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Removal
21. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY
22. REMOVE BATTERY INSULATOR
23. REMOVE BATTERY
24. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

25. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER
(a) Remove the 4bolts and the battery carrier.
26. REMOVE CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY
Removal
27. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
Removal

28. DISCONNECT ACCUMULATOR TO FLEXIBLE HOSE TUBE
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the flexible hose tube.
29. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 clips and the 2 washers, and disconnect the 2 cables from the transaxle.
(b) Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 cables from the control cable bracket.

30. REMOVE CONTROL CABLE BRACKET
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the control cable bracket.
31. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
32. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Disconnect the back-up light switch connector.
33. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal
34. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH Removal
35. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

36. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH Removal
37. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

38. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
39. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

40. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
41. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

42. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Removal
43. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

44. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH Removal
45. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

46. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH Removal
47. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH Removal

48. SUSPEND ENGINE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the 2 hangers in the correct direction.
(b) Attach the engine chain hoist to the hangers.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to hang the engine by hooking the chain to any other part.

Torque: 38 Nm (387 kgf-cm, 28 ft-lbf)
49. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT LH Removal
50. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

51. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH Removal
52. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

53. SEPARATE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
(a) Remove the bolt and nut.

54. REMOVE FRONT CROSS MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts and the front cross member.
55. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

56. SEPARATE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
(a) Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear engine mounting insulator.

57. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the front engine mounting bracket.

58. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the rear engine mounting bracket.
59. SUPPORT MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

60. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH
(a) Remove the 4 bolts.
(b) Remove the bolt and nut and separate the engine mounting insulator LH.

61. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the engine mounting bracket LH.

62. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 10 bolts and the manual transaxle.
