Installation








U241E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Install the shift lever knob sub-assembly onto the shift lever assembly.
2. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY





(a) Install the shift lever assembly with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)
3. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Rotate the transmission control cable nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, press in the stopper until it makes 2 "click" sounds.





(b) Push the lock piece up from the back side of the adjuster case while pinching the claws on the lock piece.





(c) Install the cable outer of the transmission control cable onto the shift lever retainer, check that the position of the spring is the same as A shown in the illustration, and press in the stopper.
HINT: If the stopper cannot be pressed in, slightly rotate the nut clockwise and then press in the stopper.





(d) Connect the control cable to the shift lever.

NOTICE:
- Make sure the cable is installed onto the base of the pin.
- Check that the lock piece is pulled up.





(e) Connect the 2 connectors.
4. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
(a) Move the shift lever and control shaft lever into the N position.





(b) Press in and lock the lock piece to the adjuster case.
NOTICE: Securely press in the lock piece until the lock engages.

(c) After the adjustment, inspect the shift lever by manually operating it and checking that each position is normal.
If a problem is found, perform the adjustment again.
