INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: If the steering column or power steering ECU has been replaced, perform the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
(a) Start the engine.
(b) Check the indication condition of the PS warning light by wiggling the power steering ECU connector and wire harness up and down, and right and left.
OK:
PS warning light indication condition does not change.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Using the Techstream, check for DTCs and confirm that there are no problems in the CAN communication system Diagnosis System.
Result:
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (IG POWER SUPPLY)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Turn the Techstream on.
(e) Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List /
(f) Select the item "IG Power Supply" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream.
EMPS:
OK:
The normal condition value is displayed on the Techstream.
OK:
The normal condition value is displayed on the Techstream.
NG -- INSPECT POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT (IG)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
(a) Replace the power steering ECU Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
(a) Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK PS WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check that the PS warning light comes on for 3 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON.
OK:
PS warning light operates normally.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- END
