Disassembly - Part 1

CAUTION

Some of these services affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices in the Repair Manual concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.

NOTE

^ Prior to disconnecting the battery, open the rear hatch and place vehicle on a lift. When replacing the floor wire harness on the driver side, the charcoal canister will need to be disconnected. Placing the vehicle on a lift will provide better access to the connector.

^ Installation is in the reverse order of removal. However, special points concerning installation are indicated.

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION
Work must be started more than 90 seconds AFTER the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)





2. Remove the rear floor carpet assembly by releasing the 2 knobs.





3. Remove the rear deck floor box.








4. Remove the RH and LH deck floor box by removing the 2 nuts.





5. Remove the rear seat cushion with cover pad sub-assembly.

A. Hold the front edge of the rear seat cushion cover pad and lift it up as shown in Figure 5 to disengage the 2 hooks.

NOTICE
Hold the area around the hooks to avoid deforming the rear seat cushion frame.

B. Pass the rear seat inner belt through the slit in the rear seat cushion cover pad disengage the hook between the rear seat cushion cover pad and the rear seatback and remove the rear seat cushion cover pad.

6. Remove the rear seatback assembly RH.

A. Push the rear seatback lock release button and tilt the rear seatback forward.





B. Remove the 2 bolts the 2 hooks and the rear seatback.

7. Remove the rear seatback assembly LH.





A. Remove the bolt and the rear center seat outer assembly.

B. Push the rear seatback lock release button and tilt the rear seatback forward.





C. Remove the 2 bolts the 2 hooks and the rear seatback.





8. Remove the front door scuff plate RH and LH (RH side shown) by disengaging the 10 claws.





9. Remove the cowl side trim board RH and LH by disengaging the clip claw and guide.





10. Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip RH and LH.





11. Remove the rear door scuff plate RH and LH by disengaging the 8 claws.





12. Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip RH and LH.





13. Remove the rear deck trim cover by disengaging the 4 clips 4 claws and 2 guides.





14. Remove the RH and LH side luggage hold belt striker assembly by removing the 2 bolts and 2 luggage hold belt strikers.





15. Remove the RH and LH side rear seat back hinge by removing the bolt.





16. Remove the rear seat outer belt assembly RH and LH.

A. Remove the belt from the rear seat shoulder belt hanger.

B. Remove the bolt and floor anchor.





17. Remove the deck trim side panel assembly RH.

A. Using a plastic pry tool remove the clip.

B. Disengage the 6 clips and 7 claws and remove the deck trim side panel.





18. Remove the deck trim side panel assembly LH.

A. Using a plastic pry tool remove the clip.

B. Disengage the 6 clips and 7 claws and remove the deck trim side panel.

C. Disconnect the luggage compartment light connector.





19. Remove the roof side inner garnish assembly RH and LH.

A. Using a plastic pry tool remove the clip.

B. Disengage the 7 clips and remove the roof side inner garnish.

C. Pass the rear seat outer belt through the slit in the roof side inner garnish.





20. Remove the RH and LH side seat belt anchor cover cap.

Pull portion A shown in Figure 21 toward you remove the 2 claws on the lower side followed by the claw on the upper side. Then remove the seat belt anchor cover cap.





21. Remove the front seat outer belt assembly RH and LH.

Remove the bolt and the anchor.





22. Remove the center pillar lower garnish RH and LH by disengaging the 2 clips 3 claws and guide.





23. Remove the center pillar upper garnish RH and LH by disengaging the 2 clips and guide.

24. Remove the front pillar garnish RH and LH.

NOTICE

^ Install a protective cover onto the curtain shield airbag as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

^ Replace the front pillar garnish clip with a new one when the front pillar garnish is removed.





A. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.

B. Cut off clip A.

C. Disengage the guide and the claw and remove the front pillar garnish RH.

D. Remove clip A from the vehicle body.





E. Completely cover the curtain shield airbag with a piece of cloth or nylon and seal the ends of the protective cover with adhesive tape as shown in the illustration.





25. Remove all assist grips.

A. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.

B. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the assist grip.

26. Remove the visor assembly RH and LH.





A. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor cover.

B. Remove the visor shaft from the visor holder.





C. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the visor.

27. Remove the RH and LH side visor holder.





A. Turn the visor holder approximately 45 and pull it out as shown in Figure 31.

B. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.
