Shift and Select Lever Shaft Assembly

SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT

REMOVAL





1. REMOVE SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER BUSH
a. Remove the bush from the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





2. REMOVE NO. 1 SELECTING BELLCRANK DUST COVER
a. Remove the dust cover from the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.
3. REMOVE SELECTING BELLCRANK SUPPORT SUBASSEMBLY





a. Remove the nut, wave washer and No. 2 selecting bellcrank plate washer from the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





b. Remove the selecting bellcrank support from the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





4. REMOVE NO. 2 SELECTING BELLCRANK DUST COVER
a. Remove the dust cover from the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





5. REMOVE NO. 2 SELECTING BELLCRANK BUSH
a. Remove the bushes from the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.
6. REMOVE NO. 2 SHIFT LEVER INNER





a. Hold the shift and select lever shaft in a vise with soft jaws.

NOTICE: Do not damage the shift and select lever shaft.

b. Using a 5 mm pin punch and a hammer, tap out the slotted pin and remove the transmission oil baffle.





c. Apply force to the No. 2 select return compression spring, then using 2 screwdrivers and a hammer, tap out the No. 2 select spring seat shaft snap ring from the shift and select lever shaft.
d. Remove the No. 2 select spring seat, No. 2 select return compression spring and No. 2 shift lever inner.

NOTICE: Use a cloth to prevent the snap ring from flying off.

7. REMOVE NO. 1 SELECT SPRING SEAT





a. Using a 5 mm pin punch and a hammer, remove the slotted pin from the shift and select lever shaft.





b. Remove the shift inter lock plate assembly, shift lever assembly, No. 1 select return compression spring and No. 1 select spring seat from the shift and select lever shaft.





8. REMOVE SHIFT INTER LOCK PLATE COVER
a. Remove the shift inter lock plate cover from the shift inter lock plate.





9. REMOVE NO. 1 SHIFT LEVER INNER
a. Remove the No. 1 shift lever inner from the shift inter lock plate.





10. REMOVE NO. 1 SELECT SPRING SEAT SHAFT SNAP RING
a. Using 2 screwdrivers and a hammer, tap out the snap ring.
11. REMOVE SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT DUST BOOT
a. Remove the dust boot from the control shaft cover.





12. REMOVE CONTROL SHAFT COVER OIL SEAL
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the control shaft cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use to avoid damage.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL CONTROL SHAFT COVER OIL SEAL
a. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new control shaft cover oil seal to the control shaft cover.
SST 09950-60010 (09951-00280), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)
Standard oil seal drive in depth: 28.5 +-0.50 mm (1.222 +-0.020 inch)





2. INSTALL SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT DUST BOOT
a. Install the shift and select lever shaft dust boot to the control shaft cover.

HINT: It is acceptable for the dust boot to be tilted +15° to - 15°.





3. INSTALL NO. 1 SELECT SPRING SEAT SHAFT SNAP RING
a. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in the shaft snap ring.





4. REMOVE NO. 1 SHIFT LEVER INNER
a. Coat the No. 1 shift lever inner and shift inter lock plate with MP grease, and install them.





5. INSTALL SHIFT INTER LOCK PLATE COVER
a. Install the shift inter lock plate cover to the shift inter lock plate.
6. INSTALL NO. 1 SELECT SPRING SEAT





a. Coat the No. 1 select spring seat with MP grease, and install it.
b. Install the No. 1 select return compression spring and shift inter lock plate assembly to the shift and select lever shaft.





c. Hold the shift and select lever shaft in a vise with soft jaws.
d. Using a 5 mm pin punch, install the No. 1 shift lever inner slotted pin to the shift and select lever shaft.
Standard clearance: -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 inch)
7. INSTALL NO. 2 SHIFT LEVER INNER





a. Install the No. 2 shift lever inner and No. 2 select return compression spring to the shift and select lever shaft.
b. Coat the select spring seat No. 2 with MP grease, and install it to the shift and select lever shaft.
c. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in the No. 2 select spring seat shaft snap ring to the shift and select lever shaft.





d. Install the transmission oil baffle. Using a 5 mm pin punch and a hammer, tap in the No. 2 shift lever inner slotted pin to the shift and select lever shaft.
Standard clearance: 5.8 to 6.8 mm (0.228 to 1.0197 inch)





8. INSTALL NO. 2 SELECTING BELLCRANK BUSH
a. Coat the bushes with MP grease, and install them to the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





9. INSTALL NO. 2 SELECTING BELLCRANK DUST COVER
a. Coat the dust cover with MP grease, and install it to the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.
10. INSTALL SELECTING BELLCRANK SUPPORT SUBASSEMBLY





a. Install the selecting bellcrank support to the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





b. Install the No. 2 selecting bellcrank plate washer, wave washer and nut.
Torque: 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)





11. INSTALL NO. 1 SELECTING BELLCRANK DUST COVER
a. Install the dust cover to the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.





12. INSTALL SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER BUSH
a. Install the bush to the No. 2 selecting bellcrank.
