Seat Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Seat Position Sensor:

SEAT POSITION SENSOR

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions before servicing the SRS system or related components.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the front seat.

3. REMOVE SEAT SLIDE POSITION SENSOR PROTECTOR
4. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR




a. Remove the seat slide position sensor protector from the seat position sensor.
b. Using a "torx" socket (T30), remove the "torx" screw and seat position sensor with sensor protector.
c. Disconnect the connector.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions before servicing the SRS system or related components.

1. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR
a. Using a feeler gauge 1 mm (0.039 in.), install the seat position sensor.

NOTE:
- If the seat position sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the seat position sensor with a new one.
- When installing the seat position sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

HINT: Be sure that the clearance between the seat position sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) to 1.4 mm (0.055 in.).

b. Using a "torx" socket (T30), tighten the "torx" screw to install the seat position sensor.

Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)

c. Make sure that a clearance between the seat position sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) to 1.4 mm (0.055 in.).
d. Connect the connector.
e. Install the seat slide position sensor protector to the seat position sensor.

2. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front seat.

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

5. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
