Side Airbag Sensor:

SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

REMOVAL

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

CAUTION: Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions before servicing the SRS system or related components.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH LH
3. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP COVER LH
4. REMOVE FRONT ARMREST BASE PANEL UPPER LH




a. Using a screwdriver, detach the clip and 5 claws, and remove the front armrest base panel upper LH together with the window regulator master switch.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Disconnect the switch connector.

5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH
8. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH




a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 2 nuts and bolt.
c. Remove the side airbag sensor.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

CAUTION: Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions before servicing the SRS system or related components.

1. INSTALL SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH




a. Install the side airbag sensor with the 2 nuts and bolt.

Torque: 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 82 in.lbf)

NOTE:
- If the airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

b. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the sensor.
c. Connect the connector.

2. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH
3. INSTALL FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
4. INSTALL FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
5. INSTALL FRONT ARMREST BASE PANEL UPPER LH




a. Connect the switch connector.
b. Attach the clip and 5 claws to install the front armrest base panel upper LH together with the window regulator master switch.

6. INSTALL ASSIST GRIP COVER LH
7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH LH
8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

10. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
