Front Passenger Airbag Assembly:

FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions before servicing the SRS system or related components.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect the connector from the airbag.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.

b. Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly upper.
c. Remove the clip.




d. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel wire assembly.
e. Remove the 2 screws.




f. Release the front side airbag door from the hook by slightly deflecting it and roll the front passenger airbag assembly rearward.
g. Release the rear side airbag door from the other hook and remove the front passenger airbag assembly.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions before servicing the SRS system or related components.

1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Install the front passenger airbag assembly with the 2 screws.
b. Connect the connectors to the airbag.
c. Install the clip.
d. Install the instrument panel sub-assembly upper.




e. Connect the connector to the airbag.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.

2. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

5. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
