b) Remove the gasket from the manifold.

7. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT
a) Remove the 5 exhaust pipe supports from the body.

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE TAILPIPE BAFFLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a) Using a plastic-faced hammer, uniformly tap out the baffle.

REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL TAILPIPE BAFFLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a) Align the baffle with the protruding part of the tailpipe as shown in the illustration.
b) Using a plastic-faced hammer, uniformly tap the baffle onto the tailpipe.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT
a) Install the 5 exhaust pipe supports to the body.

2. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
a) Check the free length.
1) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum length: 40.5 mm (1.594 inch)
If the free length is less than minimum, replace the compression spring.

b) Using a wooden block and plastic-faced hammer, tap a new gasket until it is flush with the exhaust manifold.

NOTICE:
^ Make sure that the gasket is in the correct direction when installing.
^ Do not reuse a removed gasket.
^ Never push the gasket into the exhaust manifold by installing the front exhaust pipe onto the exhaust manifold.

c) Install the front exhaust pipe with the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)

3. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
a) Install a new gasket onto the front exhaust pipe.

b) Install the exhaust pipe center onto the 2 exhaust pipe supports.
c) Install the 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)

4. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum free length: 38.5 mm (1.516 inch)
If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

b) Using a wooden block and plastic-faced hammer, tap a new gasket until it is flush with the center exhaust pipe.

NOTICE:
^ Make sure that the gasket is in the correct direction when installing.
^ Do not reuse a removed gasket.
^ Never push the gasket onto the exhaust pipe center by installing the exhaust pipe tail onto the exhaust pipe center.

c) Install the tailpipe to the 3 exhaust pipe supports.
d) Install the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)
5. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)
6. CONNECT CABLE TO BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
7. CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAKS

8. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR PANEL BRACE
a) Install the front floor panel brace with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 29.6 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Make sure that the front floor panel brace is at the correct direction when installing.

9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
