Introduction
The Scion xB Special Edition offered a dual headrest video system. A component issue has been identified with the control module which may cause both monitors to go blank when high ambient temperatures are experienced. A new control module is now available to address this condition.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2006 model year Scion xB Special Edition vehicles equipped with the dual headrest video system.
Parts Information
NOTE:
The control module (P/N PTS34-52060-AV)) MUST be ordered through the TMI Products, Inc. exchange program to qualify for warranty coverage. Order a replacement by calling.
Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the diagnosis of NO picture on both monitors.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 model year Scion xB Accessories Installation, "2006 Scion xB SE 3.0 Multimedia Troubleshooting Guide". Follow the procedure in section 10. If a positive diagnosis is found, continue with step 2.
2. Remove and replace the control module.
Refer to TIS, 2006 model year Scion xB Accessories Installation, "2006 Scion xB RS 3.0 Headrest Monitor System PT534-52060". The control module is located in the glove box area as shown in sections 2f and 4c.
3. Verify repair.
Warranty Information
Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
