COMPONENTS:

COMPONENTS:

COMPONENTS:

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE OIL PUMP SEAL
a) Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

2. REMOVE OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
a) Remove the plug, spring and relief valve.

3. REMOVE OIL PUMP
a) Remove the 2 bolts, 3 screws and oil pump cover.
b) Remove the oil pump rotor set.

NOTICE: Do not change the arrangement or turn over the 2 removed rotors.

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
a) Coat the valve with engine oil and check that it falls smoothly into the valve hole by its own weight.
2. INSPECT OIL PUMP
a) Inspect the oil pump rotor set.
1) Coat the oil pump rotor set with engine oil and place it into the oil pump body. Check that the rotors revolve smoothly.
If the condition is not as specified, replace the timing chain cover (oil pump).

b) Inspect the rotor tip clearance.
1) Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the drive and driven rotor tips.
Standard tip clearance: 0.060 to 0.180 mm (0.0024 to 0.0071 inch)
Maximum tip clearance: 0.28 mm (0.0110 inch)
If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the timing chain cover (oil pump).

c) Inspect the rotor body clearance.
1) Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the driven rotor and the oil pump body.
Standard body clearance: 0.250 to 0.325 mm (0.0098 to 0.0128 inch)
Maximum body clearance: 0.425 mm (0.0167 inch)
If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the timing chain cover (oil pump).

d) Inspect the rotor side clearance.
1) Using a feeler gauge and precision straightedge, measure the clearance between the rotors and precision straightedge.
Standard side clearance: 0.03 to 0.09 mm (0.0012 to 0.0035 inch)
Maximum side clearance: 0.15 mm (0.0059 inch)
If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the timing chain cover (oil pump).

REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL OIL PUMP
a) Install the oil pump rotor set.
1) Coat the oil pump rotor set with engine oil and place it into the pump body with the marks facing the pump body cover side.

b) Install the oil pump cover with the 2 bolts and 3 screws.
Torque: 8.8 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 78 inch lbs.) for bolt
10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7.6 ft. lbs.) for screw

2. INSTALL OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
a) Coat the relief valve with engine oil and insert the relief valve and spring into the pump body hole.
b) Install the relief valve plug.
Torque: 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.)

3. INSTALL OIL PUMP SEAL
a) Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.
SST 09950-60010 (09951-00250, 09951-00380, 09952-06010), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

NOTICE:
^ Be careful not to tap the oil seal at an angle.
^ Keep the lip free of foreign objects.

b) Apply multi-purpose grease to the lip of the oil seal.
