Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. PRECAUTION
a. Follow the PRECAUTION.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
4. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE STEERING SENSOR
a. Release the 4 claw fittings and remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL STEERING SENSOR
a. Install the steering sensor to the spiral cable.
NOTE:
- Install the claw securely.
- Do not damage the claw fittings.
2. ADJUST FRONT WHEEL TO CENTER
3. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER
5. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
6. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
7. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
9. INSPECT STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
10. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
11. PERFORM VSC SYSTEM CALIBRATION
a. Perform VSC system calibration.
12. CHECK ABS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the ABS warning light.
13. CHECK VSC WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the VSC warning light.
