Skid Control Sensor
REMOVALHINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
3. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE
a. Disconnect the connector from the skid control sensor.
4. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Put matchmarks on the rear brake drum and axle hub.
b. Remove the rear brake drum.
5. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR
a. Mount the hub and bearing in a soft jaw vise.
NOTE: Replace the hub and bearing if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
b. Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the 2 pins of SST, and remove the 2 attachments from SST.

c. Using SST and 2 bolts (Diameter: 12 mm, pitch: 1.5 mm), remove the skid control sensor from the rear axle hub.

NOTE:
- If the sensor rotor is damaged, replace the hub and bearing.
- Do not scratch the contacting surface of the axle hub and speed sensor.
INSTALLATION
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. INSTALL SKID CONTROL SENSOR
a. Clean the contacting surface of the rear axle hub and a new skid control sensor.
NOTE: Keep the sensor rotor clean.
b. Place the skid control sensor on the rear axle hub so that the connector is as low as possible when installed to the vehicle.
c. Using SST and a press, install the skid control sensor on the rear axle hub.

NOTE:
- Do not tap the skid control sensor directly with a hammer.
- Check that there is no foreign matter on the skid control sensor detection portion.
- Press in the skid control sensor straight and slowly.
2. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY
3. INSPECT REAR AXLE DEVIATION AND BACKLASH
4. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE
a. Connect the connector to the skid control sensor.
6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
a. Check the ABS speed sensor signal.
