Center Airbag Sensor
REMOVALCAUTION: Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing it.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the instrument panel.
3. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the lower instrument panel.
4. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT
5. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT
6. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and instrument panel mounting bracket.
b. Disconnect the airbag sensor connectors.
c. Using a T40 "torx" socket, remove the 4 screws and airbag sensor.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing it.
1. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
a. Using a T40 "torx" socket, install the airbag sensor with the 4 screws.
Torque: 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
CAUTION:
- If the airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
b. Connect the airbag sensor connectors.
c. Install the instrument panel mounting bracket with the 2 bolts.
2. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT
3. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT
4. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY
a. Install the lower instrument panel.
5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the instrument panel.
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
8. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
