Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT: All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet codes in the table.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the instrument panel.
4. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
7. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
a. Remove the clip.
b. Using a screwdriver, detach the clip and remove the cowl side trim board.
12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
13. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Remove the 4 screws and instrument cluster finish panel assembly center.
b. Disconnect the connectors.
15. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 screws and front ash receptacle.
b. Disconnect the connectors.
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT COVER LOWER CENTER
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 5 claws and remove the instrument cover lower center.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
b. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the instrument panel finish panel lower center.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
18. REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER
19. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
c. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 screws.
d. Remove the 2 screws and bolt, and separate the instrument panel junction block.
e. Remove the instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY
a. Install the instrument panel.
b. Install the instrument panel junction block assembly with the 2 screws and bolt.
c. Install the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 screws.
d. Install the 2 clips.
e. Connect the hood lock control cable.
2. INSTALL FUSE BOX OPENING COVER
3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
a. Attach the 3 claws to install the instrument panel finish panel lower center.
b. Install the 2 clips.
4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT COVER LOWER CENTER
a. Attach the 5 claws to install the instrument cover lower center.
5. INSTALL FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the connectors.
b. Install the front ash receptacle with the 2 screws.
6. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Connect the connectors.
b. Install the instrument cluster finish panel assembly center with the 4 screws.
7. INSTALL HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
8. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
a. Attach the clip to install the cowl side trim board.
b. Install the clip.
9. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
10. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
a. Attach the 7 claws to install the front door scuff plate.
11. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
12. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
13. INSTALL HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
14. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER
15. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
16. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
17. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the instrument panel.
18. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
19. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
20. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
