Rear Bumper: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Rear Bumper:

1. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL LH

a. Remove the screw.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the clip and grommet. Then remove the side seal.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

2. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

3. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER

a. Remove the 2 bolts.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.

c. Put protective tape under the quarter panel.
d. Detach the 5 claws and remove the cover.

4. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SHIELD BRACKET CENTER

a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 12 claws and remove the 3 brackets.

5. REMOVE REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT

a. Remove the 6 nuts and reinforcement.

6. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH
a. Remove the screw and detach the claw. Then remove the side support.

7. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH
a. Remove the screw and detach the claw. Then remove the side support.

8. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH
a. Remove the screw and detach the claw. Then remove the side support.

9. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER RH
a. Remove the screw and detach the claw. Then remove the side support.

INSTALLATION

HINT: A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH
a. Attach the claw and install the side support with the screw.

2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER RH
a. Attach the claw and install the side support with the screw.

3. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH
a. Attach the claw and install the side support with the screw.

4. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH
a. Attach the claw and install the side support with the screw.

5. INSTALL REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT

a. Install the reinforcement with the 6 nuts.

Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

6. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SHIELD BRACKET CENTER

a. Attach the 12 claws to install the 3 brackets.

7. INSTALL REAR BUMPER COVER

a. Put protective tape under the quarter panel.
b. Attach the 5 claws to install the cover.

c. Install the 2 bolts and 2 clips.

8. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL LH

a. Install the side seal with the screw, grommet and clip.

9. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
