Rear Stabilizer Bar

REAR STABILIZER BAR

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL





1. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the 2 nuts and stabilizer link LH.

HINT: If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 5 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.

2. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.





3. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR
a. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 No. 3 stabilizer bar brackets from the suspension member.
b. Remove the 2 stabilizer bushes from the stabilizer bar.

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT REAR STABILIZER BAR
a. Before installing the nut, flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
b. Using a torque wrench, continuously turn the nut for 2 to 4 seconds per turn, and take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Torque:
Standard turning torque 1.0 Nm (10 kgf-cm, 8.7 inch lbs.) or less

NOTICE:
^ Make sure that neither unusual drag nor rattle occurs during the rotation.
^ Make sure that neither crack nor grease leakage exists on the dust cover.
^ Make sure that the stabilizer link LH is not deformed.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER BAR





a. Install the 2 stabilizer bushes to the stabilizer bar.

HINT:
^ Install the stabilizer bush to the outer side of the stopper ring on the stabilizer bar.
^ Install the stabilizer bush with the protrusion facing towards the inside of the vehicle.





b. Install the stabilizer bar and 2 No. 3 stabilizer bar brackets with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft. lbs.)





2. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the stabilizer link LH with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 44 Nm (49 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)

HINT: If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 5 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.

3. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

4. INSTALL REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
a. Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment.
