Fuel System

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION




1. CHECK FUEL PUMP OPERATION
a. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
b. Turn the ignition switch ON. Do not start the engine.
c. Select the tester menus: DIAGNOSIS, ENHANCED OBD II, ACTIVE TEST and FUEL PUMP/SPD, to operate the fuel pump.
d. Touch the fuel hose in the engine compartment to check the fuel flow.
e. Stop the fuel pump.

If there is no fuel flow, the fuel pump may not operate. Check the fuel pump circuit.

2. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE
a. Prepare a new fuel tube.




b. Cut the protector of the new fuel tube. DO NOT cut the fuel tube connector.
c. Tear the protector and remove the fuel tube connector.
d. Discharge the fuel pressure
e. Disconnect the fuel tube.




f. Install SST and the fuel tube connector that was removed form the new fuel tube.
g. Allow the engine to idle.
h. Measure the fuel pressure with SST.

Standard: 304 to 343 kPa (3.1 to 3.5 kgf/sq.cm, 44 to 50 psi)
