INSPECTION1. WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
a. Continuity Check
1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table.
Front Wiper Switch
Front Washer Switch
Rear Wiper Switch
b. Intermittent Operation Check
1. Connect the voltmeter positive terminal to terminal 7 (+1) of the connector and the voltmeter negative terminal to terminal 5 (EW).
2. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 8 (+B) of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminal 5 (EW) and 6 (+S).
3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.
4. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 6 (+S) of the connector for 5 seconds.
5. Connect the battery negative cable to terminal 6 (+S) of the connector. Operate the intermittent wiper relay and check voltage between terminals 7 (+1) and 5 (EW).
c. Operation Check (Front Washer)
1. Turn the wiper switch off.
2. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 8 (+B) of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminals 6 (+S) and 5 (EW).
3. Connect the voltmeter positive terminal to terminal 7 (+1) of the connector and the voltmeter negative terminal to terminal 5 (EW). Turn the washer switch on and off, and check voltage between terminals 7 (+1) and 5 (EW).
2. WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. LO Operation Check
1. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 5 (+1) of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminal 4 (E), and check that the motor operates at low speed (LO).
b. HI Operation Check
1. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 3 (+2) of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminal 4 (E), and check that the motor operates at high speed (HI).
c. Automatic Stop Operation Check
1. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 5 (+1) of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminal 4 (E). With the motor being rotated at low speed (LO), disconnect terminal 5 (+1) to stop the wiper motor operation at any position other than the automatic stop position.
2. Using SST, connect terminal 5 (+1) or 1 (S)and the battery positive cable to terminal 2 (B) to restart motor operation at low speed.
SST 09843-18040
3. Check the automatic stop position.
Standard: See the illustration.
SST 09843-18040
3. REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Operation Check
1. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 1 of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminal 2, and check that the rear wiper motor operates.
NOTE: The body earth should be connected.
b. Automatic Stop Position Operation Check
1. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 1 of the connector and the battery negative cable to terminal 2.
NOTE: The body earth should be connected.
2. With the motor being rotated, disconnect terminal 1 (+B) and terminal 3 (+1) to stop the motor operation at any position other than the automatic stop position.
3. Connect the battery positive cable to terminal 1. Check that the motor is restarted and automatically stops.
