Shift Cable: Service and Repair

TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (ATM)
REPLACEMENT

HINT:
^ INSTRUMENT PANEL METER
^ FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REAR COVER
2. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
3. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR
4. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT
5. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1
6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY





7. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the nut, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the floor shift assembly.
b. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever plate.





c. Remove the 3 bolts.
d. Pull out the transmission control cable assembly from the body.





e. Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.
f. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket.





g. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control cable support.





8. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Temporarily install the transmission control cable assembly on the control shaft lever with the nut.
b. Connect the transmission control cable assembly with a new clip on the bracket.





c. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control cable support.





d. Install the transmission control cable assembly on the body with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in. lbs.)





e. Connect the transmission control cable assembly on the shift lever plate.
f. Temporarily install the transmission control cable assembly on the floor shift assembly.
Torque: 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
9. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
10. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1
Torque: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 ft. lbs.)
11. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT
12. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
13. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
14. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR
15. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET
16. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX REAR COVER
