Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY

REPLACEMENT

1. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect a connector.
b. Disconnect the 2 fuel tank vent hoses.
1. Deeply push the connector inside.
2. Pinch portion A.
3. Pull out the connector.

c. Disconnect the purge hose.
d. Pinch the fuel tube connector clip and then pull out the fuel emission tube.

NOTE:
- Check around the connector for dirt or mud before this operation and remove the dirt if necessary.
- Be careful of mud because the quick connector has an O-ring which seals the pipe and connector that can be contaminated.
- Do not use any tool in this operation.
- Do not bend or twist the nylon tube. Protect the connector by covering it with a vinyl or plastic bag.
- When the pipe and connector are stuck, push and pull the connector to release and pull the connector out carefully.

e Remove the 3 bolts and charcoal canister.

2. INSTALL CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY
a. Install the charcoal canister with 3 bolts.

Torque: 19 N.m (193 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)

b. Connect the fuel emission tube.
c. Connect the purge hose.
d. Connect the 2 fuel tank vent hoses.
e. Connect the connector.
