Drive Belt: Service and Repair

DRIVE BELT
REPLACEMENT





1. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V-BELT
a. Loosen bolts A and B.
b. Release the V-ribbed belt tension and remove the V-ribbed belt.
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH





3. REMOVE VANE PUMP V-BELT
a. Loosen bolts A and B.
b. Release the V-ribbed belt tension, and remove the V-ribbed belt.
4. INSTALL VANE PUMP V-BELT
a. Temporarily install the V-ribbed belt on each pulley.
5. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V-BELT
a. Temporarily install the V-ribbed belt on each pulley.





6. ADJUST FAN AND GENERATOR V-BELT
a. Insert the adjusting bar between the engine RH mount bracket and generator. Push the bar towards the vehicle front to adjust the V-ribbed belt tension.

NOTICE: Do not insert the bar between the oil control valve and generator. It could damage the oil control valve.





b. First tighten bolt A, then tighten bolt B.
Torque:
Bolt A 19 Nm (189 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
Bolt B 54 Nm (550 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.)





7. ADJUST VANE PUMP V-BELT
a. Using the bar, adjust the V-ribbed belt tension.
b. First tighten bolt B. then tighten bolt A.
Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 33 ft. lbs.)
8. INSPECT DRIVE BELT DEFLECTION AND TENSION
9. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
Torque:
5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) for bolt
5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) for nut
