Safing Sensor: Service and Repair

Air Bag Sensor Assy Center:






REPLACEMENT

1. OBSERVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
4. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER W/HEATER DUCT
10. SEPARATE AIR DUCT REAR NO.1
11. SEPARATE AIR DUCT REAR NO.2




12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTING BRACKET
a. Remove the 2 bolts and the instrument panel mounting bracket.
13. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the airbag sensor assembly center.
b. Using a torx socket wrench (T40), remove the 4 torx bolts and the airbag sensor assembly center.

14. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Check that the ignition switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.

NOTE: After removing the terminal wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.

c. Using a torx socket wrench (T40), temporarily install the airbag sensor assembly center with the 4 torx bolts.

NOTE:
- If the airbag sensor assembly center has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the airbag sensor assembly center with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor assembly center, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

d. Using a torx socket wrench (T40), tighten the 4 torx bolts to the specified torque.

Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

e. Connect the connectors of the airbag sensor assembly center.
f. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the airbag sensor assembly center.
g. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.

15. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER W/HEATER DUCT
16. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
17. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
18. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
19. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
20. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
21. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
