Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair

PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3
REPLACEMENT
For parking brake cable assembly No.2, follow the same procedures as for the RH.
1. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY REAR
2. LOOSEN WIRE ADJUSTING NUT NO.1
a. Loosen the wire adjusting nut No.1.
3. REMOVE FLOOR PANEL BRACE FRONT
a. Remove the 2 bolts and the floor panel brace front.
4. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT
5. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.2
a. Remove the 2 bolts and the front floor heat insulator No.2.
6. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3
a. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No.3 from the body.
b. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No.3 from the parking brake equalizer, and remove the parking brake cable assembly No.3.
7. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
8. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE SHOE
10. REMOVE REAR BRAKE AUTOMATIC ADJUST LEVER LH
11. REMOVE REAR BRAKE SHOE
12. REMOVE REAR BRAKE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





13. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3
a. Remove the bolt, and disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No.3 from the backing plate.





14. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3
a. Connect the parking brake cable assembly No.3 to the parking brake cable equalizer.
b. Install the parking brake cable assembly No.3 with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
15. APPLICATION HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE
16. INSTALL REAR BRAKE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
17. INSTALL REAR BRAKE SHOE
18. INSTALL REAR BRAKE AUTOMATIC ADJUST LEVER LH
19. INSTALL FRONT BRAKE SHOE
SST 09718-00010
20. CHECK REAR DRUM BRAKE INSTALLATION
21. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY
22. ADJUST REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE
23. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
24. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN WIRE ADJUSTING NUT NO.1
a. Install the wire adjusting nut No.1.
25. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.2
a. Install the front floor heat insulator No.2 with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
26. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT
27. INSTALL FLOOR PANEL BRACE FRONT
a. Install the floor panel brace front with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.)
28. CHECK PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
29. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
30. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY REAR
31. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
