Shifter A/T: Service and Repair

FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (ATM)
OVERHAUL





NOTICE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the system(s) shown after the terminal is reconnected.

1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
2. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPR FR
3. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY RR





5. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.





6. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the floor shift assembly.





7. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the shift lock control ECU connector.





b. Remove the 4 bolts and floor shift assembly.





8. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release button cover from the position indicator housing sub-assembly.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.





9. DISCONNECT INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the indicator lamp wire connector from the floor shift assembly.





10. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly from the shift lock control unit assembly.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.





11. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT GUIDE
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the position indicator light guide from the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.





12. REMOVE INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the indicator lamp wire from the position indicator light guide.





b. Remove the bulb from the indicator lamp wire sub-assembly.
c. Remove the cap from the bulb.





13. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
a. Remove the position indicator slide cover from the shift lock control unit assembly.





14. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
a. Remove the position indicator slide cover No.2 from the position indicator slide cover.





15. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON
a. Remove the shift lock release button and spring from the shift lock control unit assembly.





16. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER
a. Remove the position indicator housing lower from the shift lock control unit assembly.





17. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the shift lever nut and lock pin from the shift lock control unit assembly.
b. Remove the shift lever guide housing from the shift lock control unit assembly.

NOTICE: First remove the shift lever nut and lock pin, then disengage the 2 claws.





c. Remove the 2 screws and shift lock control ECU sub-assembly.





18. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Apply MP grease to the hatched area of the shift lever guide housing as indicated in the illustration.





b. Install the shift lock control ECU sub-assembly with the 2 screws.





c. Install the shift lever guide housing with the shift lever lock pin and a new shift lever nut.

NOTICE:
- Install the shift lever nut and lock pin after first engaging the 2 claws.
- Securely engage the claws.





19. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER
a. Install the position indicator housing lower to the shift lock control unit assembly.





20. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON
a. Apply MP grease to the shift lock release button and spring.
b. Install the shift lock release button and spring to the shift lock control unit assembly.





21. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
a. Install the position indicator slide cover No.2 to the position indicator slide cover.





22. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
a. Install the position indicator slide cover to the shift lock control unit assembly.





23. INSTALL INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the bulb to the indicator lamp wire sub-assembly.
b. Install the cap to the bulb.





c. Install the indicator lamp wire to the position indicator light guide.

NOTICE: Make sure that the indicator lamp wire is securely installed to the position indicator light guide.





24. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT GUIDE
a. Install the position indicator light guide to the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.

HINT: Securely engage the claws.





25. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly to the shift lock control unit assembly.

HINT: Securely engage the 4 claws.





26. CONNECT INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the indicator lamp wire connector to the floor shift assembly.

NOTICE: Make sure that the indicator lamp wire is securely installed to the floor shift assembly.





27. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER
a. Install the shift lock release button cover to the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.





28. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
a. Install the shift lever assembly with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)

HINT: Tighten the bolts in the following order: A, B, C and D.

NOTICE: Be careful not to put the wires of the indicator lamp of the shift lock system between the floor shift assembly and the floor while installing the transmission floor shift assembly.





b. Connect the shift lock control ECU connector.





29. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Install the transmission control cable assembly to the floor shift assembly.

HINT: Securely engage the claws.





30. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
31. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
32. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
33. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
