VSE SUBWOOFER GAIN CONTROL ADJUSTMENT

Introduction
As a result of an incorrect gain control setting from the manufacturer, some VSE Subwoofers in 2005 model year Scion tC vehicles may display a "pop" or "thump" noise, when the ignition is cycled off. To remedy this condition, the gain control setting needs to be readjusted to the correct setting.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
Readjust Gain Control Setting.
1. Open rear latch of vehicle, and remove the VSE Subwoofer grille, by pulling on the release cord.
2. Using the needle nose pliers, remove the plastic gain control knob by pulling outwards.
3. Once the knob is removed, use the flat head screwdriver and rotate the gain counterclockwise, until it stops.
4. Reinstall the plastic gain control knob with the white indicator mark pointing at the 12 o'clock position.
5. Once installed, rotate the plastic gain control knob and align the white indicator mark on the knob with the indicator mark on the enclosure.
6. Reinstall grille.
