Seat Belt Systems: Service Precautions

FRONT SEAT BELT

PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
- Check for the malfunctioning areas the seat belt systems. The areas to check include the outer belt, inner belt, adjustable shoulder anchor, tether anchor hardware, bolts, nuts and other related parts.
- After a collision, check all seat belt systems for malfunctions. Even systems that do not appear to have been used should be inspected and replaced if necessary.




1. RUNNING TEST (IN SAFE AREA)
a. Fasten the front seat belts.
b. Drive the vehicle at 16 km/h (10 mph) and slam on the brakes. Check that the belt locks and cannot be extended at this time.
If the belt does not lock, replace the belt assembly.

HINT: Before installing a belt assembly, be sure perform inspections on it by itself.
