THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.
- Power window control system
- Sliding roof system
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
a. Remove the 2 nuts, then remove the engine cover No. 1.
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.
b. Disconnect the VSV connector.
c. Remove the wire harness clamp.
d. Disconnect the ventilation hose No. 2 from the cylinder head cover.
e. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose No. 1 from the VSV.
f. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose No. 2 from the throttle body.
g. Lock the air cleaner hose clamp No. 1, then disconnect the air cleaner hose No. 1 from the throttle body.
h. Unfasten the 2 hook clamps, then remove the air cleaner cap.
i. Remove the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case.
5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the water by-pass hose from the throttle body.
b. Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 2 from the throttle body.
c. Disconnect the throttle body hose No. 1 from the throttle body.
d. Disconnect the throttle control motor connector.
e. Remove the wire harness clamp.
f. Remove the fuel tube from the clamp.
g. Remove the 4 bolts, then remove the fuel pipe support and throttle body.
h. Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.
6. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY
a. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.
b. Install the throttle body and fuel pipe clamp with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 30 N.m (305 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
c. Fit the fuel tube into the clamp.
d. Install the wire harness clamp.
e. Connect the throttle control motor connector.
f. Connect the throttle body hose No. 1 to the throttle body.
g. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 2 to the throttle body.
NOTE: Make sure that the paint mark and hose clamp are at the correct angle when installing.
h. Connect the water by-pass hose to the throttle body.
NOTE: Make sure that the paint mark and hose clamp are at the correct angle when installing.
7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the air cleaner filter element onto the air cleaner case.
NOTE: Make sure that the air cleaner filter element is in the correct direction when installing.
b. Insert the hinge part of the air cleaner cap into the air cleaner case, then hung the 2 hook clamps.
c. Align the matchmarks of the air cleaner hose No. 1 and throttle body, then connect the air cleaner hose No. 1 to the throttle body and unfasten the air cleaner hose clamp No. 1.
NOTE: Make sure that the hose clamp is at the correct angle when installing.
d. Connect the fuel vapor feed hose No. 2 to the throttle body.
NOTE: Make sure that the paint mark and hose clamp are at the correct angle when installing.
e. Connect the fuel vapor feed hose No. 1 to the VSV.
NOTE: Make sure that the paint mark and hose clamp are at the correct angle when installing.
f. Connect the ventilation hose No. 2 to the cylinder head cover.
NOTE: Make sure that the paint mark and hose clamp are at the correct angle when installing.
g. Install the wire harness clamp.
h. Connect the VSV connector.
i. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.
8. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
9. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
10. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE
11. INSTALL ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
a. Install the engine cover No. 1 with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 7.0 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf)
