Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

REPLACEMENT

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.
- Power window control system
- Sliding roof system

1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
3. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

4. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY




5. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
a. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
b. Remove the connector clamp.
c. Remove wire harness from the wire harness clamp bracket.
d. Remove the wire harness clamp.
e. Remove the bolt, then crankshaft position sensor.

6. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR




a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the crankshaft position sensor.




b. Install the crankshaft position sensor with the bolt.

Torque: 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf)

NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or jammed when installing.

c. Install the wire harness clamp.
d. Install the connector clamp.
e. Connect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
f. Confirm that the wire harness of the crankshaft position sensor is secured to the wire harness clamp bracket through the back of the rib of the timing chain cover.

7. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY
8. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

SST 09249-63010

9. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

10. CHECK FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKAGE
11. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
