Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

ECM

REPLACEMENT

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.

1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
2. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE ECM




a. Disconnect the wire harness clamp.
b. Disconnect the 5 ECM connectors.




c. Remove the bolt and screw, then remove the ECM.




d. Remove the 2 screws, then remove the ECM bracket No. 1.




e. Remove the 2 screws, then remove the ECM bracket No. 2.

4. INSTALL ECM




a. Install the ECM bracket No. 2 with the 2 screws.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)




b. Install the ECM bracket No. 1 with the 2 screws.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)




c. Align the turn prevention, then install the ECM with the bolt and screw.

Torque:
5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for bolt
3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf) for screw




d. Connect the 5 ECM connectors.
e. Install the wire harness clamp.

5. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
6. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
