Repair Procedure Flow Chart
Repair Procedure
1. Confirm problem symptoms. Preliminary check.
A. Road test the vehicle to confirm the customer's complaint involves the vehicle pulling/drifting to the right or steering wheel off-center.
B. If steering wheel is off-center, then perform alignment and road test vehicle to confirm condition is corrected.
2. Determine if pulling/drifting is caused by tires, alignment settings, or the power steering link assembly.
Cross-rotate the left and right front tires (if tires are non-unidirectional).
3. Road test vehicle to determine if direction of pull has changed.
A. If vehicle pull/drift is eliminated, then the probable cause is tire conicity and the repair is completed.
B. If the pull/drift direction has reversed (i.e., now pulls left), then refer to TSB No. ST005-01, "Repair Manual Supplement: Vehicle Pulling to One Side."
C. If the tire rotation did not change the pulling/drifting condition, then measure and adjust the vehicle alignment to within specifications.
D. Increase left front camber and decrease right front camber.
NOTE:
Do not exceed 1 degree of cross camber. Do not exceed adjustment specification range.
E. If after performing the alignment the vehicle still exhibits a pull/drift to the right, then replace the power steering link assembly and power steering pump assembly with the part numbers given in this TSB.
