Instrument Panel Sub Assy Lower
INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
REPLACEMENT
HINT: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the terminal is reconnected.
- Power window control system
- Sliding roof system
2. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT: All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table.
3. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER W/FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
8. REMOVE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the 7 claws, and remove the console upper rear panel sub-assembly.
11. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY RR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the console box carpet.
c. Manual transaxle:
Remove the 2 screws .
d. Automatic transaxle:
Remove the 4 screws .
e. Remove the 2 bolts
f. Remove the clamp, and console box assembly RR.
12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER NO.1
13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
a. Disengage the 2 claws.
b. Remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No.1, as shown in the illustration.
14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
a. Disengage the 12 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.
15. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
16. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the clip.
b. Remove the 2 clips, and the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.
17. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
18. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.2
a. Remove the 3 clips, and heater to register duct No.2.
19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
b. Remove the 3 screws or
c. Remove the 2 clips.
d. Disengage the 7 wire harness clamps.
e. Disconnect the 3 connectors.
f. Pull the instrument panel lower assembly toward the rear of the vehicle, and check that the wire harnesses are not caught, and then remove the instrument panel lower assembly.
20. REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER
20. REMOVE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY W/BEZEL
22. REMOVE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING RESET SWITCH
23. REMOVE INDICATOR LAMP ASSEMBLY
24. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
25. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER NO.1
26. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER W/FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
27. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
28. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
29. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
30. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
31. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
