Component Inspection

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT A/C AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

a. Remove the A/C ambient temperature sensor.
b. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of A/C ambient temperature sensor at each temperature, as shown in the table.

NOTE:
- Even slightly touching the sensor may change the resistance value. Be sure to hold the connector of the sensor.
- When measuring, the sensor temperature must be almost the same as the ambient temperature.

HINT: As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases.
If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the sensor.

2. INSPECT A/C EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Remove the A/C evaporator temperature sensor.
b. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table.

NOTE:
- Even slightly touching the sensor may change the resistance value. Be sure to hold the connector of the sensor.
- When measuring, the sensor temperature must be almost the same as the ambient temperature.

HINT: As the temperature increases, the resistance decrease.

If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the sensor.

3. INSPECT AIR INLET SERVOMOTOR
a. Remove the air inlet servomotor.
b. Inspect servomotor operation.
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2, then check that the arm turns to "FRESH" side smoothly.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and negative (-) lead to terminal 1, then check that the arm turns to "RECIRCULATION" side smoothly.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the air inlet servomotor.

4. INSPECT AIR MIX CONTROL SERVOMOTOR
a. Remove the air mix control servomotor.
b. Inspect servomotor operation.
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 and negative (-) lead to terminal 5, then check that the lever turns to "MAX HOT" position smoothly.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4, then check that the lever turns to "MAX COOL" position smoothly.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the air mix control servomotor.

5. INSPECT AIR VENT MODE CONTROL SERVOMOTOR
a. Remove the air vent mode control servomotor.
b. Inspect servomotor operation.
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 and negative (-) lead to terminal 5, then check that the lever turns to "FACE" position smoothly.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4, then check that the lever turns to "DEF" position smoothly.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the air vent mode control servomotor.

6. INSPECT BLOWER MOTOR CONTROLLER
a. Disconnect the blower motor controller connector.
b. Measure the voltage between terminals, as shown in the table.

If the voltage is not as specified, replace the blower motor controller.

7. INSPECT BLOWER W/FAN MOTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the blower w/fan motor sub-assembly.
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and negative (-) to terminal 1, then check that the motor operates smoothly.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the blower motor.

8. INSPECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the cooler compressor assembly connector.
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to the body ground.
c. Check that the magnetic clutch is engaged.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the magnet clutch assembly.

9. INSPECT HEATER RELAY
a. Remove the heater relay from the instrument panel J/B.
b. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table.

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the heater relay.

10. INSPECT MAGNET CLUTCH RELAY
a. Remove the magnet clutch relay from the engine room R/B No.2.
b. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table.

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the magnet clutch relay.
