Timing Cover: Service and Repair
TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL (2AZ-FE)REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH
2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
3. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V-BELT
SST 09249-63010
4. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
SST 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021, 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
5. REMOVE TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL
a. Using a knife, cut off the oil seal lip.
b. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with tape, pry out the oil seal.
NOTICE: After removing, check the crankshaft for damage. If damaged, smooth the surface with 400 grit sandpaper.
6. INSTALL TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL
a. Apply multipurpose grease to a new oil seal lip.
NOTICE: Keep the lip off foreign objects.
b. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.
SST 09223-22010
NOTICE: Wipe any extra grease off the crankshaft.
7. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
SST 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021
8. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V-BELT
SST 09249-63010
9. CHECK FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKAGE
10. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
11. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
